Which VoIP Apps are the Best for free calls?

Voice over Internet Protocol, commonly abbreviated to VoIP, is the digital age's answer to Alexander Graham Bell — today you can say “Mr. Watson, come here: I want to see you” without telephone wires, seven-digit numbers or cell plans. With VoIP, you can have a long-distance voice conversation over the internet, communicating instantly with anyone anywhere in the world from your laptop or smartphone.
And you can do it for free. Rather than use up your minutes by calling your friends from your smartphone the usual way, you can install an app that lets you use VoIP. Some of the best are listed below:

Skype is far and away the most popular and well established VoIP app, and for good reason. The famous video-call program also features voice and text communications options, and is so popular its name has become a verb. Its popularity also means that most of your contacts will likely already have an account, making quick calls even easier. And on the off chance that Grandma or your client overseas lacks Skype, you can call ordinary phone numbers as well.

iCall is another fine option if you're an Apple aficionado (fan) . It works on all iProducts from the 'Pod to the 'Pad, allowing you to tap into the power of VoIP even if you don't have a smartphone. You can call landline phones for free, too, further increasing its possibilities. iCall functions as a multi- platform chat client on the side, allowing you to manage your Facebook, Google Chat, Windows Live and AIM accounts simultaneously and message any of your contacts on any platform.

Jajah is yet another contender in the VoIP world, a multi-smartphone solution with a somewhat different approach than the alternatives. While you can make calls to other JaJah users or phone numbers like most VoIP clients, the app's Facebook integration makes communication even easier. Simply scroll through a list of your Facebook friends, click on one, and JaJah will call them for free — whether they've got the app or not.

Vippie is the Android alternative to iCall, allowing users of Google's mobile operating system to make free VoIP calls to fellow users. Video and text chats are also possible, plus a wide range of other useful features, allowing you to share pictures and music with your friends. Vippie comes with all the bells and whistles your smartphone does, including voicemail and conference calls.

With the diversity of VoIP options available, you should have no difficulty in selecting one that suits your needs. Comparing the apps' ability to communicate with your contacts and their feature lists are a good way to choose between them. All it takes is a quick download and you can kiss your phone bills goodbye.

With most of these VoIP apps available to download for free, smartphone users can start enjoying the benefits of free calls, text and video calling right now.

Can you trust eBay?

The online auctions site, eBay, has been a real lifesaver for many people in recent years. The sheer choice available through the website is immense, and you can track down all sorts of obscure items. In addition, eBay also provides a handy outlet to get shot of old bits and pieces you don't want any longer, and there's usually an audience for just about anything - one man's trash is another man's treasure, as the saying goes. However, when carrying out any transaction online, it's important from a consumer's perspective that robust safety measures are in place to guarantee the security of the transaction. It's worth getting more acquainted with eBay's security procedures before you buy or sell a product over the site.
One of the biggest potential threats to security when using eBay is fraudulent accounts set up to obtain personal and account information. It goes without saying that the risks here are potentially huge, and this is one of the biggest issues concerning new and potential eBay users. However, eBay advises users to take a number of precautions to reduce the risk of being caught out. There's an online tutorial to help users recognize and report fake emails and websites. Also, eBay points out that it never asks its users for sensitive information via email, and every email sent to users is digitally signed.

Users are also encouraged by eBay to leave feedback after completing a transaction to communicate whether or not they were satisfied with their experience. Individual members have their own feedback profile, which can be checked simply by clicking on the number next to their user ID. It's well worth checking the feedback profile before you decide whether or not to proceed, as this helps users to make an informed decision. There's also a feedback forum on the eBay website where users can discuss their experiences and raise queries should they feel the need to do so.

There are also a number of procedural and technical safeguards in place to help reduce the risk of fraud when completing a transaction via eBay. Encryption, firewalls and secure socket layers are all in place to help protect users' personal details from being accessed and abused by fraudsters. Members can also request contact information for other members if they're either involved in an on-going transaction or have been involved in a recent one. However, eBay will decline to release individual members' contact details in other circumstances to protect privacy.

If you've experienced any problems while completing your transaction, you are advised to try to resolve the difficulty by getting in touch with the other party first of all. If this fails to provide a suitable resolution, however, you can choose to open an eBay Buyer Protection case through the website's Resolution Center. As a buyer, you can open a case as soon as the estimated delivery date for the item has passed or seven days after making payment if you haven't been provided with a delivery date. The seller will then be given the option

of providing tracking information to clear up the item's whereabouts, issue a full refund or offer to send a replacement item. However, if this still fails to solve the problem then you can escalate the case to eBay Customer Support, which will then take a closer look at the circumstances.

Canon PowerShot A2300: A Critical Product Review

To date, there are more than 30 Canon cameras in circulation in the market. Eighteen of these products fall under the A-Series Digital Cameras which is more commonly known as the PowerShots. This review will focus on the Canon PowerShot A2300.
Affordable price. For a compact camera that provides the point and shoot experience, users will get to enjoy the basic features they usually look for at a reasonable price.

Sharp lens. We all want clarity in our photos and the Canon PowerShot A2300 gives us exactly that. One might think that such clarity in pictures usually comes at a high price but then again, Canon has made price and clarity a package through this model.

Speedy. The shutter snaps as soon as you press it with no significant delays. This gives users the ability to capture rare moments in photos without the demand to smile a little longer.

Built-in Help Guide. It’s a good idea to conserve paper by including a User Guide within the camera itself. Think about taking a tutorial over a certain function while looking at the camera screen. It gives the kinesthetic user a very hands-on experience.

Colors. The Canon PowerShot A2300 comes in variety of colors like red, black, blue, and silverThese colors add personality to their owners.

Creative modes. Well, there is always this wacky kind of preference among people and the options offered by the Canon PowerShot A2300 matches that need. With these options, one can personalize photos at will.

Color reproduction. When the image is clear, it can be reproduced to a surprisingly high quality colored photo.

Ease of use. With a guide built within the camera, it is not a wonder why users will find this model easy to operate.

ISO Performance. Unlike the other models along its class, the Canon PowerShot A2300 has been receiving quite a feedback in terms of its ISO rating when it comes to image optimization.

Image stabilization. While this product is quick on the shutter, users will expect to do a second take. For people who have shaky hands, this might prove a challenge. One can only think that a stable image can be captured when the photographer is at its moment of stillness.

Video support. People would want a camera that can take pictures and shoot videos. However, they might not find that a good feature in the Canon PowerShot A2300. The idea of snapping pictures is already here but when it comes to video recording, it may not be as competitive as the other models under its class.

Continuous shooting. This simply means that you need to take a “break” in every picture you take. It does not support continuous shooting as other models do. In effect, it cooperates by allowing you to take a rest between takes.

Image detail. This is applicable for large print photos. The details are not too fine if a photo is reproduced in a bigger size.

Optical zoom. This is only observed when in video mode. So if you plan to focus on something in a vide sequence, you simply can’t because it’s not designed to do that.

Conclusion
All products would have its ups and downs only because we cannot get everything we want in a single device. The concept of sacrificing something to accommodate another is still operational unless costs are not a problem. In this case, the Canon PowerShot A2300 is an affordable type of camera that suits those who do not take pictures all the time. With the desirable features it has to offer, one can only think that he is getting the best value for his money when compares this product to its competitors.

users might have a few comments about it too. And this is the same reason why technology is being replaced from time to time. It is to introduce developments based on the perceptions and needs of the general public. Therefore, this camera is not bad at all. The basic function it has in the photographic side is sufficient enough to capture the most precious moments in your life.

Apple - the Past and the Future

By the mid-90s, Apple was in trouble. Few people were buying Apple computers, and the company had not been profitable in years. Ironically, it was Microsoft that gave Apple the loans necessary to continue, and the return of Steve Jobs provided Apple with some much-needed ingenuity. Shortly after Jobs returned, Apple released the iPod music player, and Apple has since risen to become one of the most profitable companies in the world. During this rise, Apple Mania struck the media, and it is difficult to read news about technology without being overwhelmed by praise for the company. Based on recent developments, however, some are predicting that Apple Mania will begin to wane. Here some of the reasons why Apple's reputation may begin to dip in the future.
Competition from Android

When Apple first released the iPhone, it looked as if they would have little competition. Google, however, wanted to prevent Apple from building a monopoly in the smart phone realm, and they released the Android operating system. The Android operating system is free to use, and many manufacturers turn to it as a competitor to Apple's iOS operating system. Through the years, the Android operating system has met and surpassed iOS in terms of power and flexibility, and many people prefer to Apple's offerings. While reviewers and technology writers have been reluctant to recognize the advantages of Android, few can now deny that Android is a viable competitor in terms of innovation and features.

Lackluster desktop and laptop sales

Apple makes a large profit on their desktops and laptops, but their market share has only risen slightly. Despite offering products with great build quality and innovative features, most people prefer ubiquity of Windows and the lower price points of PCs. Unless Apple is willing to target lower price points, OS X will remain a relatively minor player. In addition, some believe that iOS devices will eventually fall in terms of market share, and some predict that Android will become the smart phone equivalent of Windows. As a result, it will be difficult to justify Apple Mania in its current form.

Apple fatigue

Apple has long had a reputation for being the alternative operating system. Users are encouraged to "think differently" and view themselves as rebellious in nature. The dominance of Apple in the smart phone and tablet markets, however, has made Apple the default choice when talking about smart phones and tablets. In addition, many people are getting tired of hearing about every new Apple product released, and some people are vocally complaining about the amount of press that Apple receives every time a new iPhone or iPad is released. While Apple devices will likely continue to receive press in the next few years, the media's interest can be expected to drop eventually.

It should be noted, however, that Apple aficionados will likely continue to loudly tout the benefits of their Apple devices. Even though Apple Mania may disappear in the general public, Apple fans will surely continue to brag about their favorite Apple devices.

Comparison between Nikon and Samsung Android Cameras

As we all know each and every product which arrives into market come with its own list of features and specifications and comparing two different products with different brand names is not good at all. But the amount we invest to get hold on same product is to great that without comparing it's hard in fact next to impossible for us to decided which product would
suite us better.

And that's the reason that today we have decided to serve you with the comparison between those two product which have not only arrived from best companies in field but also are always referred as best among others which are available in a same price range. First product can be mentioned as samsung galaxy camera which is one of the latest additions on racks and other one is from house of nikon which is known as nikon Coolpix S800c.

Although this product (samsung galaxy camera) from the house of samsung is new but there is no doubt that this product has already taken control over most area in specific field. That's why most companies have already started working in direction to provide a better product from same. And on the other hand as we all know nikon is a company which has been catering this section of requirement since some time now, and there are no second thoughts about the fact that this is working much better than others in fact that's the reason this company is enjoying a much better position than all those as well.

Starting with the main comparison now:

Network - In case you came here with an assumption that nikon digital camera would come out as a brighter competitor than think hard and think again as in this particular section samsung has won the battle that to without fighting at all. As because were nikon is only and only available with Wi-Fi support samsung has decided to provide us much more for example 3G support with HSPA + D/L 21 Mbps, U/L 5.76Mbps.

Display - moving on to display part even here we can find that nikon is providing us a 3.5 inch OLED touch screen only were as samsung has designed its product around a 4.8 inch super clear touch display.

Operating system - this is again an area were samsung has provided us what can be mentioned as latest with android 4.1 jellybeans and on the other hand nikon digital camera has came up with an older Version of android which is also known as gingerbread 2.3.

Processor - if you chose to work with samsung you can work with a 1.4 GHz quad core processor and in case you end up with nikon digital camera you work with 1.2 GHz dual core processor.

Memory backup support - like most other in market nikon is here with 2gb internal memory support but you can add more space for work with the help of addition and external supports, but samsung is on the upper hand over here as well as it is coming with eight GB internal memory support with external additional.

Conclusion:

With all the various points we have mentioned till now and all those which are yet to be discovered we can say that samsung is moving far head of nikon and in case this company want to save itself it’s important that nikon soon arrive into market with something new and better. Otherwise one can say that samsung can take over the position nikon has been taking care of since some time now.

Today we can observe a drastic revolution in the field of technology. The usage of electronic gadgets has increased to peaks and at the same time there is an increase in the usage of electricity, this might result in the scarcity of the renewable and non-renewable sources providing electricity for humans. Hence there is a need to change this system. This system must be shifted or converted, there comes Joao Paulo Lammoglio with a soulution for this issue.

Sony's Steve walker said the same "If you want to sit in the bath and watch a HD movie, then Xperia Z is the phone for You". That's true. But it has limitation of 30 Minutes. The device can be under water for only 30 Minutes approximately and can resist a depth of one meter.
Coming to the design, It is slim(Weight-146g), Shiny and thin with inch to inch covered so that there is no opening for water to enter inside the device. But users have to take care that the charging slots and covered by supports given to them while inserting inside the water.
Dust and Shatter proof which makes the device shine even after a long time, even the scratch proof screen is main thing about the device.

Some of the Primay features are the Android Jelly Bean(4.2.1), 13 MP camera(Primary), 2.2 MP(Secondary), HDR video recording, available in three colors (Black, White & Purple).

Slimmest Smartphones on the Market

Slimmest Smartphones on the Market

Being slim has been a goal for millions of people and a trend followed by mobile device manufacturers who are always trying to miniaturize and reduce the bulk of their products. There is good reason to want to do so. The smaller the device, the lower the power usage, smaller the battery and the thinner/lighter the device will be. In a mobile environment, portability is a crucial design factors so the lighter and thinner the item, the more portable it can be.

Gorilla protection

The iPhone 5 came out with much acclaim with users wowed by the slim profile and probably even more by the amazing display. One of the reasons this device is so thin is that it uses the latest gorilla glass 3 on the front which is extremely tough stuff and allows the device to be thinner while still retaining strength and resisting cracking. Since the iPhone came out, a number of other manufacturers (also all using this new gorilla glass) have brought out some very sleek designs indeed. One or two have been at the expense of other dimensions – the new HTC has a 5” screen so the phone itself very thin but also is pretty wide x long. The downside to a really thin phone is mainly strength so those prone to sitting on their phone by accident might look for a more robust design profile.

The coin drops and for Apple

Apple made a big deal about them having the ”world’s thinnest phone” (their words at the launch – which turned out to be a bit embarrassing for them when it was shown that there were in fact other contenders who had already released thinner phones – oops!

Here are the latest phones that fit the bill for the worlds slimmest: Note that the manufacturers’ measurements are usually taken at the thinnest point.

ZTE NUBIA Z5          7.6 mm

APPLE iPhone 5       7.6 mm

DROID RAZR            7.1 mm

VIXO X1 (OPPO)     6.65 mm

OPPO FINDER          6.2 mm

This trend continues as Chinese phone makers beat their Apple competition hands down when it comes to the slimmest phone. No doubt the number requiring data recovery services will also go up as more phones get damaged. A lot of smartphones are now relatively large and despite new Gorilla glass technology protecting many models, breakages are easier than ever. This is not such a problem for data on SD cards but internal data is hard to recover. So if you go with a slim model that may be more fragile, you might want to back up your contacts and images etc. more frequently. Losing your saved games alone might break your heart!

Conclusion

At the end of the day it is personal preference but before you rush out and buy the slimmest phone on the market simply because for a day you will look cool with it, think back about how you treat your phone. For anyone who uses their back pocket regularly to keep their phone in, a slim phone might not be a great idea – might look less obtrusive but much more likely to break. One day they will probably be completely flexible and only a millimeter thick so it won’t matter – until then be careful out there!

Flexible displays – is no surface safe?

Flexible displays – is no surface safe?

There was a time when you could pretty much guarantee that a display surface for a moving image had to be flat – or at the very least, flat-ish. All of that certainty went out of the (flat) window with the advent of flexible electrophoretic plastic displays. Now, any surface, no matter what its shape, whether it’s a single plain or three dimensional, can be turned into an advertising hoarding, a display or even a work of electronic art. So what are the possible applications for flexible displays, and do we really need them?

Electrophoretic what now?

Flexible plastic electrophoretic displays (EPD) are an adaptation of something
that may be a little more familiar in term – e-paper. The advent of e-paper has revolutionised applications such as e-readers and e-books, and companies such as Plastic Logic are now investigating other applications for this technology.

EPDs work by suspending tiny titanium oxide particles in a hydrocarbon oil. A
dark dye is added, as well as charging agents that give the particles an electric charge. This mix is then sandwiched between two parallel conductive plates with a very tiny gap in between. When an electric current is applied, the particles will line up electrophoretically (hence the name) to the plate with the opposite charge to themselves (in the same way that opposite poles of a magnate attract). Depending on the positions of the particles, the result on screen will either be dark or light, and through this lettering can be created.

So that’s the basic physics. But technology has moved on since the first e-
readers incorporated this technology into a useable form back in the early 2000s, and now leaps forward in colour images and more complex results are being achieved, making this kind of technology ideal for display purposes.

Applications

It’s not just advertising applications that are ideal for flexible EPDs. Larger versions could have specialist applications such as billboard advertisements and even 3D advertising platforms, but smaller versions of the same technology could be incorporated into mobile and communications technology, such as wireless flexible screens for smartphones. They can also find a use in more everyday arenas, such as displaying timetables at bus stops, or menus in restaurants.

EPDs have several advantages over LED displays. Primarily, they can be instantly changed to display any message or image, but they are also incredibly lightweight, robust, easy to read in daylight and are exceptionally power-efficient. Multiple displays can be put together to produce large scale displays, making them perfect for temporary displays at events and conferences.

The technology could also be used in other areas, such as in packaging and even on clothing – although this may be more of a passing fashion than a truly practical application!

Our concept of how we use space to transmit a message in the digital age has to change in line with the advances in technology, and flexible EPDs are right at the cutting edge of electronic display systems. Their flexibility and robust makeup makes them incredibly adaptable and the applications are only limited by the user’s imagination. While we may not want to see even more advertising in our environment, the continuing development of more advanced flexible EPDs suggests that we may have to accept that it will be a fact of life in the future.

MacBook Air Vs Ultrabooks – Which is Better?

MacBook Air Vs Ultrabooks – Which is Better?

The term ultrabook was first used by Intel for its ultraportable laptops with specific set of guidelines. These devices use either a cache of flash memory or a solid state drive to boot Windows quickly and have the thickness of less than 0.8 inches. A minimum of 5 hour of battery life is offered by these machines. Now, let’s find out the differences between MacBook Air and Ultrabooks.

Good Features of MacBook Air

Better Screen Quality

The screen quality of Apple’s MacBook Air is way better than that of other Ultrabooks found in the market. They are vibrant, bright and have got better viewing angles.

Best Touchpad

This is the result of Apple’s total control over software and hardware. The glass trackpad on the MacBook Air is reliable, dead accurate and silky smooth, on the other hand many ultrabooks offer unreliable performance. Another good thing about Air is that you can perform various tasks with the help of the myriad multitouch gestures.

Comfortable Backlit Keyboard

We don’t find any of the ultrabooks’ keyboards as comfy as that of the Apple’s ultraportable. Moreover, the bright backlighting enables you to read the keys easily.

Friendlier Software

We know that Apple’s OS is not totally immune to security threats, but I find OS X Lion simpler than the Windows 7 or 8. Features like Mission Control, the search token feature in mail, Auto Save and Resume, allow me to do my tasks easily. Additionally, Lion is stable than the Windows 7.

Good Features of Ultrabooks

Cheaper

The cost price of the 13-inch MacBook Air is $1,299, while you can get the Toshiba Portege Z835 Ultrabook with just $799. The weight of this ultrabook is just 2.4 pounds and it offers the battery life of 7 hours. Though the 128GB solid state drive and Core i3 processor are not as quick as the Air, you do get good performance for the price.

More Choices, More Sizes

There is no doubt that the 13-inches are the road winner. However, the choices of people differ from one to another. And there are choices for those people who want bigger screens. For instance, the HP Envy 14 Spectre comes with the scratch-resistant glass. On the other hand the 15-inch Samsung Series 9 has the 1600 x 900 resolution.

Extra Port Options

Though we don’t find SD Card slots in some of the ultrabooks, many of them posses more ports in comparison to the Air. For instance, the HP Folio consist Ethernet, a full-size HDMI port and two USB 3.0 ports. There is even a VGA port in Portege Z835.

More Storage

Users often find the limited 128GB of storage of MacBook Air and some Ultrabooks quite less. However, there are certain ultrabooks like the Samsung Series 5 Ultra which has a hard drive of 500GB.

Bottom Line

The price of ultrabooks are relatively low than the MacBook Air, but they don’t offer same responsiveness and speed of the Air. The best thing would be to go for the one which meets your needs.
